SaiFightsMS Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Have you looked at any of the local schools yet? You can often learn wether or not a style looks appealling to you by watching a class. Most reputable schools will allow you to watch a class or two, just make arrangements ahead of time.
CheekyMusician Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 When I started karate I found a lot of the information on the net useless. You really should consider checking out a few classes or maybe going to a library or bookshop and checking out some books on karate. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to.
WhiteBelt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 There are a lot of books available that can help you with choosing a school. Most have a list of things to look out for, and things to ask about.
jmy77 Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Here is a link to a site that i came across when i was looking to join a school. http://www.usadojo.com/choosingschool.htm It poses some very good questions and gives you an idea of what to consider. "Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft." - Pres. Theodore Roosevelt "You don't have to like it, you just have to do it." - Captain Richard Marcinko, USN, Ret."Do more than what is required of you." - General George S. Patton"If you have to step on someone else to stand tall, then you truely are a small person." - ?
