Hi, everybody.

I am new here :)

I am curious if anyone here do

weapon sparring., i.e. use weapon

to do free-fight and not just

practise form or kata :brow:

Thanks!

We base ourselves very much like Shotokan - one hit to end the fight (however unrealised you may think it is)

We do a lot of 1 and 2 step, but I'm trying to impliment some free fighting (staffs is easy[relatively speaking], its the zai that I want to people to develop skills in)

We do pre-arranged sparring with any number of combinations of our weapons. No official free-sparring, but the strikes are real and the speed is full (after a lot of practice).

Staff, short sticks, sword, short sword, fan, cane, rope, spear, etc.

I need to say sorry for my

bad English first. Hope you

can understand what I said.

I am not an expert in weapon.

And just learning some japanese sword

in akido and Chinese spear.

But this is lucky enough that I met

a friend who gathered group of people,

holding some "fake" weapon but with

same weight and balancing and have

sparring.

He made Japanese sword, Chinese blade,

spear and so on. This is funny :brow:

Hi! Jerry :D

What weapon you take???

Real one or "faked one"

Your English is pretty damn good :)

You may know 1 step as "Ippon Kihon Kumite". Two people face each other is a fighting stance and one attacks. The other person defends and counters. Thats it. No more.

Hi, Tobias_Reece

Thank you.

Do you know your Kumite is from which

ancient Japanese school?

Hello, Andrew.

Wow, I see your website.

I think we doing similar thing.

Only difference is we would take

Chinese sword vs Japanese sword,

Spear vs Double Chinese blades

and so on.

Longer the weapon is; :brow:

the safer the person is.
