TJS Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 i really wouldnt gte involved with grappling in a street fight. Thats a nice theory unfortunatly You dont always have that option, most attackers close distance if they dont want to trade with you, and thats assuming they didint grab you by suprise or behind or something.
ZeRo Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 yeah i know what you mean, but by choice i wouldnt wanna go to the floor.
Mayur Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 yeah i know what you mean, but by choice i wouldnt wanna go to the floor. You would if you are a grappler And yes many martial arts do full contact, if you come out from your ring MTfighter, then you willl see what I mean |Mayur|
ZeRo Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 i am a grappler ok not a very good one and im pretty damn small but still IMO its better to stay on your feet and say give them a good punch then roll on the floor where your very vulnerable to say someone who is a full foot taller (im only 5 2").
Mayur Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 Hmm.....at medium range and long range the striker has the advantage, at close range the grappler has the advantage, as simple as that, the rest is upto who has better footwork, which is taught well in all styles [almost] |Mayur|
Ashura Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 See in a street fight you have to go Oni-Style and start biting and destroying them all beastial like. Yup
ForeverTheArt Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 lol, well put Ashura To advance the art,To honor my sifu,To fight for the sake of the fight.
SaiFightsMS Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Come on now let's make some effort at intelligent conversation.
monkeygirl Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Muay Thai interests me because it is such an agressive art. I'm pretty sure it's "full contact", or as close as you can get. I'm also jealous of their strong kicks (I'm 5'2" like Mike), and wonder if maybe some of their training methods would help me increase power. However, MT looks pretty brutal on the body, and I don't need any more injuries 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 zero height has absolutely nothing to do with it "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
