MuayThai Fighter Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Hello welcome to my post. I do pankration an art that combines muay thai and submission wrestling for those who don't know and may have not read or written in my other posts. What are the full contact martial arts styles you're interested in,whether it be a single martial arts or a mixed contact martial arts? I like to hear about different full contact arts if you're interested in sharing it with others please do so,I'd like to know about your art. By the way, does anyone here know what the difference is between Pankration and Shoot Fighting? They sound like the same art to me.
Tombstone Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I dont know alot about pankration but shootfighters spar using palm strikes and no hits to the face. I fight full contact but I dont consider it a "style".

kenpo4life Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Full-contact is not an art but a training method. A lot os schools do it. Muay Thai, kenpo, kyokushin, goju, the list goes on. A lot of American schools dont do it however, because it hurts If my survival means your total destruction, then so be it.
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 shoot fighting was developped by a few guys, funakoshi and a few others, anyways these guy mixed muay thai, karate, judo, and german wrestling to create a good ma' anyways i have fought against shooters and they're tough "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"

So what,if full contact hurts,it's going to hurt alot more without gloves on the street. You're there to learn to defend yourself and take punches. You're not there to learn to give up,no one has to do martial arts to learn how to give up,but you can do martial arts to help you.
MuayThai Fighter Posted February 26, 2003 Author Posted February 26, 2003 Want to win a fight on street using your martial arts then: 1/be quick 2/punch or kick with power 3/react quickly to opponents movements 4/be mean So basically go in fast and hard or go home.

Anyways, don't forget about the opportunities for grappling (as long as there's a single opponent). Currently: Kickboxing and variants.Previously: Karate (Seido, Shotokan, Seidokan), Ju Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Fencing.
ZeRo Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 i really wouldnt gte involved with grappling in a street fight.
Kyle-san Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 i really wouldnt gte involved with grappling in a street fight. Yeah, I'd just try for the quick wrist lock to control the opponent then go from there if they want to keep fighting.
