Ender Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Hi, I'm somewhat interested in this art and there is a shotokan club nearby. I noticed that this style has a lot of different organizations. Does anyone know anything about the SKA organization? Ender Yellow Belt W.T.F. TKD
G95champ Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 You should be able to type Shotokan Karate of America in to a search engine and gets their home site. SKA along with JKA and AJKA are the 3 big Shotokan groups. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
G95champ Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 http://www.ska.org/ Here is their main site. It should have all the info you need. If not email or call them they will be happy to talk to you. However Im sure the dojo your looking at should be able to answer most of your questions. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Ender Posted February 19, 2003 Author Posted February 19, 2003 Thanks for the advice, I'm searching through websites right now, But, I was wondering what all of you thought about it. Is it a good organization, etc? Thanks. Ender Yellow Belt W.T.F. TKD
ramymensa Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Never mind the organisations. They are like wolves Get a good sensei and a good dojo and just train. Have fun and progress. Good luck World Shotokan Karate
shotochem Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I agree with Ramy, damn the organisations they are not instructing you. A good sensei is the most important (and hard to find). I suggest you speak to the sensei of the dojo you are interested in and observe a few classes to see if its right for you. Good luck in your search. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
