g_M_e Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 I've been searching the web for a bamboo bo and I can't find one. Anyone have a supplier? Thanks in advance! g_M_e
SBN Doug Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I don't think you'll want bamboo. Being hallow, it won't stand up well to solid wood. I prefer rattan, but check out this thread for some other options. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=5586 Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.

Martial_Artist Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 Yup, I think you mean rattan. Having lived in a bamboo forest before, I don't think there's much for the thin bamboo shoots before they hollow out into bamboo. Rattan, however, is probably what you're thinking of, or waxwood. MA. Treebranch Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 I have a Jo made of hickory. It has a good weight and it's hard as hell. I also just bought a Bo made of Hickory, the weight is nice and it's hard as a rock. I'd buy a nice Hardwood Bo like Hickory, Walnut, Cherry, Oak, something tough with some weight to it. Practice with something like that and when you pick up one of those toothpicks you'll feel like it's childs play.
