SBN Doug Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 I've usually liked TKDT much better than BB Magazine, usually because it was less "fad" oriented and of course focused mainly on Korean arts. However, we recently participated in a fund raising rally to get a newly promoted woman master on the cover. http://www.taekwondotimes.com/next.html She is a really great teacher, and has been studying under one of the most intense senior masters in our art for years. I just found it a bit eye opening that these participants in TKDTs have to not only pay to get on the cover, but in a lot of cases send in their own pictures for the article. Has anyone else had experience with getting into a MA based magazine, or known someone who has? Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
SaiFightsMS Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 I have had contact with a 4th dan Isshinryu who is a paraplegic spina bifida. He sent Black Belt an article that rather than they condsider as an article they put it in one of the news type columns as just a short blurb.
ZR440 Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 Is that Marlin Simms that she is beating up on the cover of that mag? It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
SBN Doug Posted February 19, 2003 Author Posted February 19, 2003 You better believe it! Payback for all those years he's been beating on her. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ZR440 Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I have been warned about Marlin when he is leading a test. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
SBN Doug Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 The warning is well placed. However, he doesn't usually lead tests other thatn BB tests. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ZR440 Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I'm safe for about the next 4 or 5 years then. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
