I haven't practiced karate in 9 years. My parents started me into Shotokan when I was 8 to help me with a dicipline problem I had. I was pretty serious for the next 6 years, but when I was 14, I found it more important to play soccer  .

A recent situation inspired me to get back into martial arts, because it made me remember how much I used to love it. A few weeks ago, I was attacked by somebody after a concert I was at. Without even thinking, I blocked his first 2 punches and then drilled him in the stomach. Thankfully, that was all it took to subdue him. I was amazed that my training had stuck with me for so long;like second nature. That made me realize that something powerful enough to still be with me 9 years is definately worth devoting time to.

I know my story sounds a bit cheezy, but I thought I'd share it because it was a turning point in my life.

This is a great looking site. There's so much info on here; I'm overwhelmed. :)

Great story. Welcome to the forums.

I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.

Hiya Nick. Get back into training :) And welcome :) Good story, by the way (coming from someone who also used her training in a real situation).
