ramymensa Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 banning a certain style would be a decision that must be taken with great care. I sincerelly doubt, because USA it's the land of freedom, isn;t it? I don't know anything about sanshou, but I guess it's not more dangerous than other styles ... well who knows ... Anybody ... have you got informations about the problem here? World Shotokan Karate

Kyle-san Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 So, it's just the competition being banned and not the art?

SBN Doug Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Ahhh, now I see. The state of N.Y., as do all states, regulate what types of "sporting events" can have touneyments. If this art is not registered with the state, or on the "approved" list, then they are not permitted to conduct tourneyment competitions. This does not make the art illegal to teach or learn. jeffin Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 COmpetitions will be legal if they go through one of the governing bodies mentioned. It was a hasty law and ill thought out. They are planning on revising it but you know government could take ages. pete The superior man is modest in his speech, but excels in his actions.Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC)Crosstraining in bjj/silat/muaythai/jkd/JJJ/kickboxing
