G95champ
I guess we all have heard the bad news by now. Keep the familes of those who died today in your mind. I still remember where I was when the Challenger blew up in 86. Sad day.... (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Patrick
Yep. Sad, indeed. About 86. My Mom talks about it once in a while. I was like 1 and we weren't that far away, she said we went out on the patio and saw the smoke. It gets brought back up from time to time. G95champ
My Respects "Fire And Rain" by James Taylor Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone Susanne the plans they made put an end to you I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song I just can't remember who to send it to I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend But I always thought that I'd see you again Won't you look down upon me, Jesus You've got to help me make a stand You've just got to see me through another day My body's aching and my time is at hand And I won't make it any other way Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend But I always thought that I'd see you again Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now Thought I'd see you one more time again There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
G95champ
Just a note on the Challenger. I remember it well. We had went to town and mom had went in the Dairy Queen to pick up our order. Dad and I were in the truck. She came out and told us that the Challenger had went down. There are certin things that leaves marks in each generation. Dec 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor Nov 23rd 1963 JFK shot Jan_____ 1986 Challenger Sept 11 2002 Trade Centers I don't know that the Columbia will overseed the attack on NY but nevertheless its a huge moment in our history. SaiFightsMS
I also remember well the Challanger explosion. I was getting ready to move in here. It is a great loss. There is a cost to expansion of knowledge. Those who become sacrifices in the quest for knowledge are true heroes.
SBN Doug
Few, someone else that was more than a kid when Challenger went down. I was in the student union, at college. All the t.v.'s suddenly got switched to the report. Now I've had to watch two go down. Not a pleasent sight at all. I also lived right near NASA in Houston when I was there. I hate to think of the poor kids that were waiting for their parents to come home. Still, they are the last of the adventurers/explorers, in the purest sense. shotochem
"We are happy that it broke up," government employee Abdul Jabbar al-Quraishi said. "God wants to show that his might is greater than the Americans. They have encroached on our country. God is avenging us," he said. Lets see if Allah can stop a squadren of B52s, F-16s and a few of our Un-HOLY cruise missiles MADE IN THE USA Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
