Training with Intent

In doing my karate, there is always never-ending oyo bunkai, entry points, and kata. In the last couple of weeks, I have been working on shoulder bumps, and in kata I have been playing with the idea of skipping one footwork count while doing two hand techniques. The idea came from Sensei Hokama. In a couple of video clips, you can see him skipping some footwork in Suparinpei and Seisan.

Currently, I'm focusing on building a better academic understanding of anatomy, and biomechanics, with a particular focus on contact and non-contact forces and how they generate power.

Hello @P.A.L ! It's good to see you back!

Well, at this stage, I'm focusing very hard on putting on my socks in the morning without falling on my face!

You think I'm kidding?lol

I’ve always been sitting down whenever I put my socks on/off. For me, dressing isn’t part of my MA training.

It was for me. When I first started, I tied my belt wrong several times. Once sensei even looked at my belt at the start of class and said, "let's begin by making sure everyone is tying their belt correctly." We all took the belts off, even black belts, and had to retie it. I was just thinking "sorry, this is all my fault." evil I was embarrassed at the time but it's kind of funny now.

I think everyone has experienced this moment more than once…I know I have.
