ronryu Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 well this is an embarasing thing to admit butr here it goes . while doing some blocking drills fo some conditiong something that I have been doing for 18 yrs . I got a little carried away I guess and broke my arm while doing the low blocks . The sad thing i thought i had just tore some nerves or froged a muscle and kept on with class did'nt figure i had broke it till I gotr home a few hours latter . Live and learn , huh thats the great thing about Karate no matter how long you study something will happen that makes you realize how much more you have to learn . Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if you will admit to it . Karate is not a sport , it is a way of life .Sandan Motobu ha Shi-to ryu karate Katsu ryu kempo Ryukyu kobudo
niel0092 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Sooo... how exactly did you break it? At any rate, sounds like it sucked. Hope it heals well so you can get back to training. "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare
gheinisch Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Never known anyone to break a bone in class, but a fellow student of mine messed his shoulder up (pulled muscles) while practicing side kicks. Go figure! Hope you're a quick healer!! G "If your hand goes forth withhold your temper""If your temper goes forth withold your hand"-Gichin Funakoshi
SaiFightsMS Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 I broke a bone in my hand one time doing a crescent kick in a kata. Well actually I have done that twice the first time was in Heian Yondan the second time was in Hangetsu.
KickChick Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Yikes I don't find that funny at all. Yeah, I'm curious as to how yo broke your arm with a low block?? Did you hyperextend or what??
ronryu Posted January 31, 2003 Author Posted January 31, 2003 Well we were doing blocking drills low block to low block with a partner and we got carried away after a long day and I hit to low and it snaped. But it didnt hurt as much as i would have thought a broken bone would have. Karate is not a sport , it is a way of life .Sandan Motobu ha Shi-to ryu karate Katsu ryu kempo Ryukyu kobudo
ZeRo Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 bad luck! hope it gets better soon so you dont have to miss much training!
omnifinite Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 Weird, did you possibly damage the bone beforehand? Maybe you're not getting enough calcium? Hope it heals quickly either way. 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu
ramymensa Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 I knew Gedan Barai is dangerous, but this is too much Well, sorry if I seem to be joking ... I'm shocked. Hope you'll be OK I messed some muscles and something at the superior part of the leg ... and you don't feel too much because you are in the middle of the training and full of energy. The problem is when you get home World Shotokan Karate
