June 17Jun 17 Hey all, I thought that our 25th birthday celebration would be a great opportunity to attention to something that was added when we moved to our new software back in 2024: You can now add your birthday to your member profile. You don't have to add the year, you can add only the month and add, if you want. Down the road, we might make it possible to view member birthdays on a calendar where we could see them in advance. An "About Me" section was also added to member profiles, as well. This is a place where you can expand on your background in greater detail. Think of it like an introduction that lives on your profile. I noticed recently that Noah (@Wastelander) had utilized this feature in a smart way on his profile. You can, of course, also add your martial art(s), location, interests, occupation, website, and training log to your profile, as well. Visually, you can upload an avatar, which is displayed on all posts, and a background image, too. Once again, take a look at Wastelander's profile for an example of a fully completed profile. Funnily enough, up until a few minutes ago, most of the profile fields in my own profile had not been updated in 20+ years, possibly since launch. I have had "Sports, stocks, web development" has my "interests" forever. I took this as an opportunity to complete some much needed updating, and I thought you might want to do the same. Please note: All profile fields are completely optional, and only there for those who want to use them. There's never any pressure, and all members only share what they are comfortable sharing. June 18Jun 18 I look forward to seeing how folks approach their profiles and information about them. I think it will help people connect with each other. June 27Jun 27 I updated my profile with my birthday info. We can leave the year off; don’t need to remind myself that I am old. **Proof is on the floor!!!
