J_stanm Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 I just took my first karate lesson the other day and found out that you have to know the Japanese names for the stances and basic actions. If anyone can remind me of what they were, that would help me out alot. I'm taking the course at a Oyama Karate dojo. Any advice would be cool too. :
KickChick Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Sorry ... cannot give you any advice, only a website to check out. http://www.24fightingchickens.com/shotokan/belts/29_8kyu.html Hey karate members is this ok??? I am not sure ... but I do like how they have it presented. This is broken down by "kyu" requirements ... I don't know how your school is Good Luck to you!!! "Although the Japanese frequently suggest that you should learn through insight, you will learn more quickly by asking what you need to know up front. Remember to "take your education." Do not wait for it."
Tobias_Reece Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Yeah, good link - nice presentation and details. If you need help with pics, goto https://www.trakda.org.uk and look under Shotokan Karate basics. (if you scan around the kobudo pages you might find a piccy of me ) Give me a shout if you need help with anything else.
