Mr Heel Hook Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 I just got off the phone with my buddy who is in Cali to compete in the IGJJF tournament that's being held next weekend. So, of course I am asking how's he doing and whatnot. So, after all the cordial stuff, I asked how it was to train with the "old man" Helio (Readers note: This is not meant as disrespect. Its more like when you watch those old kung Fu movies, and the random old man/teacher kicks all kinda a$$, that's how its meant. So a compliment in other words.) he says it was great. After a few more words were shared on that, he mentions. "Hey remember Married with Children?" "Yeah, with Ed O'neil"? I reply. "I just trained with him. He's awesome! Ed's a 2 stripe purple bet!" Now, I remember reading somewhere that he practiced Gracie Jiu Jitsu, but I had no IDEA he was a purple belt! Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised to hear that, and of course, slightly amused he was so "tuff." So, that's my random story for the day. Wish my friend luck at the tournament!! BonnyBoy Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 Very interesting, and I agree a purple belt is a big accomplishment, looks like he's on his way to brown as well. There are always two choices, two paths. One choice is easy and its only reward is it's easy.It takes sacrifice to be the best.

BonnyBoy Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 My best wishes are with your friend Mr Heek Hook. How long has been studying B/GJJ for? Oh, and why aren't you there? How long have you been studying? There are always two choices, two paths. One choice is easy and its only reward is it's easy.It takes sacrifice to be the best.
Mr Heel Hook Posted January 29, 2003 Author Posted January 29, 2003 Thank you, Bonnyboy. Um, I have been studying for...a collective of 2 years perhaps. I have known Gracie Jiu Jitsu for like...5...but I moved far away from my buddy, (the guy in Cali) and none of my friends would train with me. So I guess a maximum of 2 years study time. Rich, my friend never stopped really. So he is far ahead of me in skill. Aside from that, he seemingly was born with a natural talent. Boy, I wish I was there. Im not just because I couldnt take a week of work off. But, like said, wish him luck! "A deer admires a lion. But all the members of our family are lions. So it doesn't matter which lion I admire.
