iamrushman Posted June 6, 2001 Author Posted June 6, 2001 the type of poomse i study are the PALGWE and TAEGUEK type plus the black belt forms. my favorites are KEUMGANG and TAEBAEK. these black belt forms show the most power and finesse. KEUMGANG represents the diamond which is smooth and the strongest material on earth. TAEBAEK represents the mountain in korea which is tall and unmovable. i usually use KEUMGANG and TAEBAEK in tourniments and demonstrations. rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson

iamrushman Posted June 6, 2001 Author Posted June 6, 2001 sorry gentlemen; poomse is the korean word for forms, another older word used is hyungs. in japanese it is called kata. maybe you can enlighten me and tell me what the name for forms is in other martial arts. sorry for the misunderstanding. _________________ rushman 3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon florida [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-06-06 21:54 ] [ This Message was edited by: iamrushman on 2001-06-07 09:28 ] rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson
jdash Posted June 8, 2001 Posted June 8, 2001 Okay, I am used to the word "Kata" thanks for the explanation...
Taesujutsudrw Posted June 17, 2001 Posted June 17, 2001 Tang Soo Do, use the word Hyung. I recognize all of them. When I do practice them..I do both WTF. and Itf. However, my favorite is Taebek Kyoshi Deborah R. Williams 7th DanFounder/Senoir Instructor Tae Su JutsuBoard member International Martial arts Association. daveant Posted July 14, 2001 Posted July 14, 2001 I study the PALGWE and TAEGUEK forms and the black belt forms. My favorite is Koryo, because it was used in my Black belt test. Bob Daveant1st Degree Black Belt: TaeKwonDoKim's Martial Arts School, Avon, Ohio
niel0092 Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 I'm learning Palgwe and Taegeuk forms. Occasionally we do Chong Bong forms. CB roughly translates to mountain top or small mountain. These forms were created by my instructors first TKD teacher and we do these to remember our own history. My favorite form (so far) is palgwe oh-jang and I've gotten medals for Taegeuksa-jang "Jita Kyoei" Mutual Benefit and Welfare
iamrushman Posted July 19, 2001 Author Posted July 19, 2001 NEIL0092...keep up your studies of the taekwondo poomses...as you advance you'll find more intense hand and blocking techniques to learn. the black belt forms are full of creative offensive and defensive hand techniques. rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson
