Minnesota Wild took their first L of the season, 5-4 against Seattle.  Won't be the last.

Upset of the night was in Edmonton as the Blackhawks beat the Oilers 5-2.

Minnesota takes the loss against the Jets, 2-1, but since it was in overtime they still get a point.  Wild have four points in three games, but two losses.  Jets are 3-0-0.

Five teams still with perfect records and they are all in the west.  Calgary, Utah, Winnipeg, Vegas, and Dallas are all 3-0-0, still on the chase for the undefeated 82-0-0 season.  The Oilers have three games in the bag and not a point to show for it.  No need to panic with 79 games left, but another slow start for Edmonton.  If you recall they had a bad start last season, fired the coach, then made it to the finals where they were down 3-0 and came back to force a 7th game.  Way too soon to count them out even though they are at the bottom of the league right now. Capitals, Avs, and Predators are also pointless, but have played fewer games.  Washington is only 0-1 and does not play until Tuesday. Colorado will have a chance to get on the board on Monday when they play the Islanders.

Utah has fallen from the unbeaten and suffered their first franchise loss, a 3-0 shutout against New Jersey.  Utah falls to 3-1. Four undefeated teams left.

Another high scoring game today as Ottawa beat the LA Kings 8-7 in overtime.  Lots of goals here early in the season.

Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson scored an empty net goal in the final seconds of the Wild's 4-1 win against the Blues.  He is the 15th goalie in NHL history to score a goal.

Dallas remains undefeated now at 4-0 after a shootout win against San Jose.  Calgary is the early season surprise, and they win again tonight, now 4-0. Vegas has fallen from the unbeaten, losing in Washington 4-2, first points of the season for the Capitals.  No goals for Ovi but he did have two assists, putting him at 700 for his career.  Seattle spanked Nashville 7-3, while Florida, Tampa Bay, and Carolina were also winners.

Golden Knights record at the start of the 2024 season of the NHL is 3-1-0. That puts the Knights in 2nd place in the Pacific Division behind the Flames. Next for the Knights is on the hosting ice of the Lighting tonight at 4PM.

GO KNIGHTS!!

Busy day in the NHL.  Speaking of Vegas, they started 3-0 and now have lost three in a row, though they did get a point in Florida on Saturday losing in overtime.

Other winners were the Rangers, Islanders, Capitals, Senators, Sabers (yes Buffalo), Stars, Blues, Wild, Red Wings, Kraken, Utah, and the still undefeated Winnipeg Jets now 4-0 won in a blowout and are the last remaining unbeaten team in the league.

On the other side is the Nashville Predators who are stinking up the joint at 0-5, the only team in the league without point in the standings.  What is going on in Music City Hockey? That is a little cuckoo for cocoa puffs right there.

The Jets are putting the win in Winnipeg right now, after tonight's victory against the Blues they are now 6-0, and remain the lone unbeaten NHL team this season. Minn (not win) esota Wild beat the Panthers 5-1 and they are off to a decent start.  Other winners were Washington, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Detroit, NY Rangers, Nashville (first win), Colorado, Vancouver, Columbus...sheesh I think every team in the league played tonight.

Vegas just scored a PP goal while I am watching this, and lead the Kings 2-0 on ESPN.

Alright, I did not remember that tonight is the one time out of the year that all 32 NHL teams play.  Here are the 16 winners from this annual event, which always takes place on a Tuesday.

Senators, Capitals, Wild, Lightning, Jets, Sabers, Rangers, Blue Jackets, Red Wings, Canucks, Avs, Predators, Hurricanes, Flames, Ducks, and Golden Knights.

I'm going to bed.

Glad to hear that the Golden Knights was amongst last night winners on the ice. Knights melted the ice under the Kings here in Las Vegas with a final score of Knights 6 and the Kings 1. Next for the Knights, 4-2-1, at home will be the Senators, 4-2-0, this Friday, October 25th.

GO KNIGHTS!!
