im a beginner in bjj( 4months) and i really like the basics, but i don't feel comfortable with alot if not most of tha advanced techniques im learning, should i chose to learn only those which i like? or should i learn them all evwn though alot( 50%) of them i really wouldn't use?

or should i only absorb what i find usefull, and disregard what i don't?

your help would be appreciated

Learn them all, then decide what's usefull and what isn't. It's better to know the techniques than not even if you never use them.

to learn the advanced techniques you have to have a solid base.

What makes the differences a black belt between a blue belt for example, is that the black one, "master" the basics.

Learn the basics first, how to get position, escape from them and so..

No reason not to try, right? I'm sure after months of practice you'll look back on a technique you consider difficult now and wonder why you ever had any trouble with it.

Everything falls back to basics when something more advanced fails. Your basics, are like said, a rock hard foundation. It's ok to try and learn more, but ABSOLUTELY not at the cost of passing by basics.

Absorb everything you can, the techs you think you will never use will be be more usefull than you think.
