I think may be sponsorship can be a big way to generate their income and this is why may be they can organize a nice match.

The first 2-3 years may not have generated any profit at all.

They had one sponsor per year as far as I ever saw, but now they also have a deal with CBS to be aired on cable tv.

How did they pay people if they didn’t generate any profit in the first few years? Investors. They had a handful of wealthy investors who gave them money.
