Kyle-san Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 at least i don't waste my time training in a bs like aikido Have you had any experiece with aikido? Kensai wasn't calling BJJ bs, just stating the results of a fight by the heads of the respective styles. I don't agree with his comment about Kodokan Judo, but I'm not going to insult him or his style for it. I thought you were better than that.
LOILOI44 Posted January 14, 2003 Author Posted January 14, 2003 ? so you're gonna judge it only by one fight.. don't you remember when the gracies wnt to a Judo school and defeated all people there? at least i don't waste my time training in a bs like aikido Which school did they walk into? Was it a beginer's class? If they walked into the Kodokan and defeated everybody in there, then I will change my tune. If any of them beat an internationally ranked Judoka please let me know. You might not like Aikido, but to call it bs, that's a little harsh. I've never heard a single Aikidoka claim that they were the toughest kid on the block. Aikido is purely a defensive art (till you reach the higher levels). It might not suit you, but it still is a legitimate art. I guess unless an art encourages a huge amount of bravado then it isn't a real art. (That was sarcasm by the way)
Venezolano Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 i don't care what you think or not, train Judo if it's the "best" for you Valencia - Venezuela.
Kensai Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Venezolano can say what he wishes. But his comment is neither respected or appreciated and if he does not like the facts that I presented to him then he should not read them. Venezolano, I am not trying to bash BJJ. As a style I have great respect for it. My intention was not to turn this thread into a style slagging match. But your comments of BJJ supremacy are not true. Other than style bashing what was the actual aim of this thread?
ZeRo Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Venezolano can say what he wishes. LOILOI44 Posted January 14, 2003 Author Posted January 14, 2003 Other than style bashing what was the actual aim of this thread? The original aim of this thread was to try and gain some insight into the inner workings of BJJ. I study traditional (Japanese) Jui-Jitsu, and Judo. I wanted to know how BJJ differed from the arts I study. What I've learned is this...BJJ relies heavily on the guard, it specializes in mainly ground fighting, and as a Judoka, and BJJ players are more advanced than I am. I guess it's a good thing that students of BJJ are so passionate about their art.
ZeRo Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 thats a good combo; judo and jj, they would really compliment each other. from what i know, Bjj has more advanced ground techniques but less advanced throws/take downs then judo. please correct me if i am wrong. (i dont study Bjj)
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 zero bjj has the same if not very similar throws as in judo, kensai, i must apologize for venozolano, and kyle- san S.T.F.U. BOY WOULD I LIKE TO TEACH YOU A LESSON OF MY OWN ,tkd and shotokan, don't get me started !!! loi loi if you want to learn something about bjj pick up a ''grappling" magazine not black belt "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
