Baka718
I am in need of a new Karate do-gi. What are the best brands and models under $100 USD?
sensei8
Best?!? That answer will vary from person to person. For me, Century MA Supply has a lot of quality gi's under $100, so does Asian World of Martial Arts (AWMA).Train hard and train well. **Proof is on the floor!!! Baka718
I think I might get the lowest price Meijin, Mugen/KI, or Tokon keiko-gi. Anyone with experience in 1-3 of the brands? @Sensei8?
sensei8
I think I might get the lowest price Meijin, Mugen/KI, or Tokon keiko-gi. Anyone with experience in 1-3 of the brands?Meijin Dojo Gi is priced from $47 to $67, depending on size. It's a very durable Gi across the board. Many Okinawan Masters wear Meijin Gi's, including the Meijin Dojo Gi.As a CI of my own dojo and owning a MA supply store inside of my dojo, I can vouch for the Meijin brand across the board both personally and professionally, as well as many other Gi brands.I've no experience with Mugen/KI, or Tokon keiko-gi at all. **Proof is on the floor!!! cheesefrysamurai
I have 2 meijin I like them, they feel much like old friends at this point. Fraying a bit at 3-4 hard years (lots of consistent training, some grappling, lots of gasshukus where it gets used repeatedly, still going.I’ve had a ronin heavy weight - pretty damn decent My fave by far is shureido but it costs a bit more. Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
JR 137
The KI Mugen gis are popular at my dojo. They seem to hold up well and people say they’re comfortable. I’ve worn the heavyweight KI gi. It is a good gi for the money. Heavy and didn’t fit me right. For the money, I much preferred Ronin. Seems better made, more comfortable, and it fit me right. I’ve moved on to Shureido K-11 and won’t ever go back. Way over the $100 price though.
stoneheart
Old thread but I will vouch for KI Mugen. I have owned all versions, orange, yellow, black, and the new one that is co-branded/whatever with Hirota. I prefer the yellow. It is the heaviest of all 4 and is made of brushed cotton for comfort. I find them very inexpensive for the value and it is nice that KI does in-house embroidery as well. I had my name put on the lower lapel of my last purchase and it looks nice.
