RW Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 I haven't been able to go to the Muay Thai gym for a while, thanks to COVID.While I can practice Kata for my kempo stuff, I am itching to do some muay thai stuff and hit the heavy bag, which is obviously not possible now. I am doing shadow boxing, but it really want to hit the heavy bag.So here goes, what can I do? I'd buy a wave master, but they take too much space and too heavy to move around on a daily basis. What can I buy or build on my own?
sensei8 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 IF you've the means to hang a hanging bag, then I'd hang a heavy bag, and beat the living tar out of it. Drawback, is it's stationary, and while you don't have to move it before and after a workout, it'll be in the way, unless it being in the way is of no concern. This link might be helpful to you...https://garagegympower.com/best-punching-bags-for-apartment/ **Proof is on the floor!!!

Nevinyrral Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 If heavy bag is too big you can try speed bag or reflex ball. Also since you do kempo you might also try a makiwara. A style is just a name.

You can pretty easily find instructions online to build one.If you've got a tree or some other kind of post or pole available (and it's sturdy), you could probably by some kind of kicking shield and use the handles in the back to tie a rope around the post or tree to secure it. It'd give you something to kick and punch, although not quite as good as a standing or hanging heavy bag. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

I will order a "Quiet Punch Home Boxing Punching Bag" Cool. Please let us know what your impressions of it are, whether good or bad. I have that, and I mainly use it for my cardio workouts; I just have to remember to take it down when I'm done with it, or my wife kills me. I've mixed feelings on that particular apparatus mainly because I want to hit with power, and to not hit with power is so alien with me. Worse thing about it is that it sure doesn't take much for it to start sliding down, which means I have to stop, pull it make up to continue my workout; it's not all of the time, but enough to drive me crazy. **Proof is on the floor!!!
