Alan Armstrong Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Learning from failure in Sparring. In a Sparring class (some time ago) JKDWas sparring with the top student, no matter what I did, he shut me down.I didn't understand why and what was happening to me.Before I could do anything, he has their, before setting anything up, he was their to shut me down, time after time.Must admit I was becoming discouraged, confused and disappointed in my self, as wasn't use to being out gunned so easily; becoming more and more frustrated as time went on.Was just hoping to change Sparring partners soon, as I was feeling very uncomfortably and humiliated as the seconds of time slowly ticked by.Sure he was younger, taller, faster, stronger but me being older, there was an element of experience on my side as with having many strategies. Why wasn't my Strategising working for me?As it was due to "The Sand Castle Effect" Perhaps this will of use to you in your next Sparring class?
