Beef Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Hello, I just bought a pair of Tonfa and now I am looking for something to help me learn how to use them. Does any one know some good Websites, books or videos that I can look into? Any help will make me very happy ^_^, Thanks. SBN Doug Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 I personally don't believe in learning anything (martial arts related) from books/videos. However, I think I've seen them advertised in Black Belt Mag. for tonfa. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Tobias_Reece Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 "Mastering the Tonfa" - Mikio Nishiuchi I use them as an additional teaching supplement - its hard to remember everything someone tells you, so I check the video. SBN Doug Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Supplementing is different. I have no problem with someone learning from a live instructor, then using a video to refresh their memory. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Tobias_Reece Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 LOL, sorry Doug, that wasn't a dig at you - I apologise if it sounded like that. SBN Doug Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 No no no, I didn't take it as a dig!!!! I just realized my previous comment was incomplete. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Beef Posted January 10, 2003 Author Posted January 10, 2003 Doug: I agree with the whole learning from book/video tape thing, but when you live on a small island, it is sort of hard to find instructors within a reasonable distance away ^_^. Tobias: I would love it if you could give me that list, at least it will get me started, thanks a lot!! You can msg me on AIM or MSN, or you can e-mail them to me, either way, thanks ^_^.
