Noctaeon Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 You sure that isn't a re-release of Madonna's................Vogue video LOFL thats what i thought
ZR440 Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 I forwarded the link to my friend who is a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army Special Forces, this is his response. "If you are looking for a way to expand your horizons or mental well being, by all means spend some cash so a dude can make his fortune teaching you something that has no practical value whatsoever in my mind. Its been called "Dodging the Bullet" for years. The problem I have with the practicality for the average person is this....when do you plan on being in a gun fight? And if you have a gun, why are you close enough to grappel with him anyways? Also, you can never predict where a bullet is going to go because of human error in directing the gun". - Brent It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
ak74auto Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 The movie looks pretty cool, like the text said its gonna be compared to the matrix, so it must be something special. As for gun kata, im sure if the world entered a state of martial law, it would be a worth while form to learn. There are some systems that teach gun self-defence ( systema is a really efffective and cool art) but as for tactics to help you win a gun fight, you will have to join the army or go paintballing. There is no need to join the military just to learn gun tactics. There are plenty of GOOD firearms instructors who also teach other forms of self defense. You can also shoot at your local IDPA competitons , they help a lot. Go to https://www.idpa.com , you'll thank me later. Study and show thyself approved. Don't become so focused on the weapon that you become castrated. HDR - 2000

If you are a soldier fighting in a city , you will be up close and personal , if you police , you will be close when chips fall, and if you are about to be robbed , raped , murdered , etc.. , it will be a very upclose and personal experience. According to the FBI'S own statistics , most shootings are 10 yards ( 30 feet) and closer , the participants ( if that's what you want to call them ) are usually facing each other with little or no obstruction(s) between them . If handguns are used , there are two to three shots fired on average , if it's a shotgun , there's usually only one shot fired. Study and show thyself approved. You love logical thinking , but hate guns ?! Doesn't that train of thought contradict itself ?! Oh wait , it's okay to decapitate someone with a sword , just don't shoot them ! superleeds Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 I have never said that it is ok. to decapitate someone with a sword. And howe does logic and disliking guns, contradict? I'm sorry if my opinion has somewhat offended you. Read a book!
ZR440 Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 It doesn't. It's probably the way you stated your opinion that AK74 found objectionable. That's OK, no harm done. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.

ZR440 Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 It's somewhat of a cultural thing. Firearms play a huge influence in the freedom associated with the USA. The wars we had, the western cowboys, the annual deer hunting camps, shooting grasshoppers with your Daisy BB gun are all examples of how firearms have played an important part in the history of our country. Most of us who have not grown up around firearms do not understand the reasons why we need to have any guns. They aren't ignorant for asking why (unless they are a politician). They just haven't had enough exposure to them. That's understandable. But contrary to what others may choose, I would rather keep my .40 semi auto on me instead of a sword or large knife or whatever. One reason is that I don't know very much about MA weapons. The second reason is just like the Indiana Jones movie. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
