Hello everyone, i am new in this forum. I am looking for suggestions.

I looked in the forums here, and noticed that the previous posts about this subject were years and years old... and some of the links are no longer valid.

Maybe there is newer info?

I am a women who does American Kenpo Karate. Been involved for about 4 years. I want a decent FEMALE gi top. Everywhere I look, the supposed "female" gi's have pictures of men modeling them, or 90lb flat chested "females". I am a real sized woman with boobs. Women with boobs practice Karate too...

I tried the Century female cut gi top, and the XL fits very good around the waist area, but is still tight around the chest / boobs.

I have searched and searched the internet, but i cannot find anything. Any suggestions from women who have boobs and have a female gi top?

thanks for your suggestions.

Welcome to KF, prokaryote; glad that you're here!!

You might consider getting a larger top than the bottom.

Have you looked into either a Meijin or a Seishin?? Both in the $300 price range. Seishin has a Female gi of all sizes tailored for females. Not sure if Meijin caters to Female gi's or not; they've an excellent cut to them.

Meijin will readily sell a uniform with mixed-sizes. While I don't know a lot about women's clothing, I do know that when I watch my wife buy clothes, I often wonder how women manage to shop for something that actually fits!

I'd get a regular, well-made top that fits appropriately where it needs, then have the rest altered.

I think you may have to get a larger top and then have it altered. I struggle too, especially as the pants seem to be cut to men too. I end up buying a size bigger and then having them taken up and in.

Note to self: start a gi manufacturing company that makes women’s gis that actually fit women.

Sorry... this topic comes up so often without any good solutions beyond buying a gi and having it altered.

I feel for you, ladies. I’m a guy who’s got serious problems finding clothes, including gis, that actually fit right. I find a brand and stick it forever, or until they change their cut. Then it’s back to the frustration all over again. I’ve got 1 brand and cut within that brand of jeans that fit right. Same for every type of clothing, but I’ve got a little wiggle room in t-shirts and shorts.

You’d figure that a gi brand or two would smarten up and want to dominate an untapped market. I’m shocked that a company as big as Adidas hasn’t done so. I understand the relatively speaking small companies like Shureido not taking the risk, but still...

It probably hasn't been done because women's bodies are so very different from one another.

My brother had a similar issue, as a body builder. His shoulders would easily fill a men's XL shirt, but his waist was about a 34. He wanted form-fitting shirts, so he always bought larges and popped the buttons.

Just when I’m on a roll and think I’m onto the next big thing, you’ve got to go ahead and use logic. Thanks for crushing my dreams of being the next big inventor :)
