RKOSMIC1 Posted December 24, 2002 Posted December 24, 2002 Miyamoto Musashi anyones thoughts on him? =0
ramymensa Posted December 25, 2002 Posted December 25, 2002 I've read Eiji Yoshikawa's book abot him. I was young and stupid and thought I'll become a samurai one day. Now I've grown up, I realised a girl would have some problems in becoming a samurai Well I do karate and I became sort of a samurai, an european one and with more soul World Shotokan Karate
Kensai Posted December 25, 2002 Posted December 25, 2002 Women were Samurai, some of the best ones were like Matsumoto Ai. I have the book of the five rings translated by Tomas Cleary. Personally I think he was a great dualist and man. Take Care.
Killer Miller Posted December 25, 2002 Posted December 25, 2002 Go Rin No Sho - ah a great book! I wish I could find out who borrowed it and didn't return it??? However, his strategies and concepts cannot be truly taught in today's civil life. This premise of the winner is the "one" that's still alive... Although, it is the basic phylosify of the JKA and other similar traditional karate concepts - one chance to "Kill" using perfect technique and timing! Miyamoto Musashi anyones thoughts on him? taebot Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Go Rin No Sho Reader's Digest Version of Sun Tzu's Art of War... "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." George Orwell
taebot Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Killing, as is most of the work, is a metaphore. The work is as timely now, maybe even more so in these chaotic times... Especially in terms of the three strategies. "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." George Orwell
SaiFightsMS Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 At different times in his life he was different things. He covered a full range of persona from ruffian to sage.
