David Miller
Hello everyone,I would like to ask a question about doing Karate with long hair. During class, my hair can get a bit messy but I don't mind fixing my hair back with my hands, but in tournaments, i can't do that, especially with Katas that has dynamic and sharp turns. How can you fix the long hair problem WITHOUT tying your hair (getting a ponytail, elastic bands, braids etc)? Thanks
Spartacus Maximus
The only other solution to this issue is quite obvious if unwilling or unable to tie the hair in any way. Just cut it to a more manageable length. In any physically intense activity, sport or job long hair is a disadvantage and a hazzard.
mushybees
Why is tying it up not an option?
DWx
So your options really are to tie it back somehow or if you really don't want to do that, cut it. No amount of hairspray will help with this. Guessing by your username you're male? If it's not too long you could always rock the David Beckham hairband look but it's not such a great solution when you're getting punched and kicked in the head as it'll be all over the place. In fact we actually ban metal hair grips and clips in our TKD tournaments due to the potential for injury. MatsuShinshii
Cut your hair! If the hair is the problem then cut it. Wastelander
Tie it back, braid it up, or cut it off. David Miller
Thanks for all the replies. I have decided to use hair sprays to keep my hair from moving all over my face. Do you guys know any specific strong hair sprays for martial arts or anything like that? Thanks again.
