Joecooke007 Posted November 27, 2001 Posted November 27, 2001 This is true. It is a bad thing when a black belt makes someone arrogant. Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
SaiFightsMS Posted November 27, 2001 Posted November 27, 2001 A black belt can be a thing or a person. When the black belt is a person that is totally different then when a person is just wearing a black belt. I believe for all of us that have earned black belts our belt is a special and unique thing for each of us.
moobrack Posted November 28, 2001 Posted November 28, 2001 Black Belts have to be earned through consistency of good, solid training, and sheers determination, for example. On my 1st Dan grading, it started out fibe, then I developed an awful migrane and started to vomit. I was vomiting non-stop on and off for the whole grading.Karate-Ronin kept asking me to sit down, but I wouldn't because I wanted the belt so much despite feeling like total garbage. I think that anywhere along the lines of what I have just said shows that you are mentally ready to achieve a black belt grade. jakmak52 Posted November 28, 2001 Posted November 28, 2001 Earning all those belts prior to it Best regards,Jack Makinson
SaiFightsMS Posted November 28, 2001 Posted November 28, 2001 Moobrak sounds like you earned your belt. I had a similar experience getting my 5th kyu. Everyone of my strips of cloth have a special meaning to me and a set of different stories and struggles behind them. My faded threadbare 1st kyu belt is really ragged and a real treasure.
