taezee Posted August 27, 2001 Posted August 27, 2001 im so tired of the belts discussions..or the ranking system or what shade of tangerine your school uses...the question should be what makes a martial artist? its been said before but still true... a belt holds youre pants up thats it... KickChick Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Why do we wear wedding rings?? It makes the discipline, hard work and struggles concrete to us. It "signifies" to the wearer of his/her accomplishments. You have given yourself fully to someone or something --->your martial art... and you better be faithful to it! And when someone sees the belt or ring....one knows not to fool around with that person! ...wow do I have a way at lookings at things or what?? Deby
moobrack Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Great point of view KICKCHICK! Kickbutt Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Very well put KickChick! Well - I believe a true black-belt is this: Someone who has no ego/is humble and truly wishes to help others and their community. Someone who leads by setting a good example. Someone dedicated to Martial Arts and who posseses great skill in their Art. Someone who is constantly trying to better themselves. Someone who wishes to pass on their knowledge to others by teaching. OK, enough for now . taezee Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 kickchick..what about that tan line around someones finger..and not to sound rude but when i was in the service i met plenty of women who wore the ring proudly while trying to pick up men in a club while ther husbands where out to sea for six months...my point being that wearing things that symbolize something does not make the persons character..only that person can make that happen.. _________________ Javier l Rosario bayshore new york "whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your ass" [ This Message was edited by: taezee on 2001-08-28 10:57 ] Javier l Rosario instructor taekwondo/hapkidounder master Atef s Himaya"whenever youre lazy enough not to train .someone, somewhere is training very hard to kick your *"
thaiboxerken Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Hey, you were in the Navy too, eh? Most Navy wives don't know the meaning of "being faithful". I guess most black-belts don't know the meaning of their belts either. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
