Hi Guys & Gals

God I sound like Jimmy Saville(A very old Disk Jocky taht should be dead but still goes on).

Right! What makes a black belt?

My opinion a true black belt is a person that feels that they are not as good as others think.

I hate the bloke that introduces himself with hi i`m Master ??? 7th Dan

As you know from my profile I hold dan grades in all sorts of styles but I only put that information there so you know who I am and what I do.

My answer to the 7th dan is I am a desperate dan

Come on then nows your chance to really air your views

What makes a black belt? hmmm..

A person who has more pride in their abilities than they do in that rag they have around their waist...

A person who doesn't exercise their techniques in public unless they are in a fight...

A person who never starts a fight, but never walks away from one...

A person who acts chivalrously, protects virtues and morals etc...

A person who is ever willing to teach those who are willing to learn.

A person who is highly skilled at his martial art.

A person who is willing to teach others.

A person who is a good fighter - well at least good at sparring with no only technique, but with effective use, judging distance and timing etc.

Just about all the ones Angus said

What make a black belt?Hmm!

Here are ,my thoughts.

A black belt should care for his/her surroundings.

A black belt should have an open mind to other people and their opinions.

A black belt should focus on his/her task and give 110% in everything that he/she does.

A black belt should have an ability to perform techniques and kata's with great form and power.

A black belt should show respect to his/her elders and superiors.

RESPECT is paramount.

DETERMINATION is paramount

a black belt is someone who never gives up, some one who has a black belt should show respect to others, but respect themselves, never back down and NEVER give out a weak point, Black belts should gain the respect of others by showing respect, not showing off, all black belts i know personally, have my respect

i feel that any humble and respectful person is a black belt in themselves... to me, it's not about combat, but charity, compassion, etc, and the ability to hold one's head high knowing they are living a righteous life to become a superior person. (confucius 551-478bc).....

just rushman's humble opinion..
