Alan Armstrong Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Do martial artists need to be ambitious? Is it possible to be a successful martial artist without being ambitious?Founders of styles must be considered ambitious or perhaps not?How would your martial art skills be without it?
sensei8 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Without ambition, there's no reason to ever step on the floor, just as long as the ambition is knowledge and experience based; everything else, i.e., fame and/or money and/or rank and/or notoriety, destroys ones own MA journey...imho!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
singularity6 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I think that depends on what you define as a martial art. Participating a couple times a week at a belt mill will grant you a black belt, and would only really require a bit of time and (probably a significant amount of) money. Does that make you a martial artist? 5th Geup Jidokwan Tae Kwon Do/Hap Ki Do(Never officially tested in aikido, iaido or kendo)
Alan Armstrong Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 I don't have any martial art ambitions, for fame, money, notoriety or rank; is that normal?I do like learning and sharing but ambitions; cannot think of having any at this present time; is that weird?
