Alan Armstrong
Coming from an art background, understanding critiquing and the difference of criticizing is important as they are two very different things.Critiquing is method of offering opinions for making constructive improvements whereas criticizing doesn't add anything valid to a discussion.Critiquing art styles of which one is better is usually avoided, due to one style has always effected the other somehow, somewhere.Art styles have been written up as a reaction to another; as Bruce Lee must have discovered the same parallel with martial arts, through studying philosophy. So there we have it, Bruce Lee critiquing martial arts on one hand and trying not to criticize it on the other. Alan Armstrong
Wing Chun Superman Punch What makes this punch a Wing Chun Superman Punch whereas other styles and systems also have access to it?As Wing Chun incorporates the Chinese Yin/Yang harmonies and contrasts, such as the multiple rapid, none commited "chain" punches and the direct, fully committed "1 inch" punch. As the punch in the video is from the "1 inch" punch variety. As this fighter is concealing his fighting system and intent, whereas his opponent is doing just the opposite by dancing and showing off his abilities. My point being, that those that really know how to use Wing Chun, never show it off, as it is supposed to be cloaked in ordinariness and never displayed as anything threatening or impressive.Wing Chun is a totally deceptive system of fighting which is contradictory to the openess of the Shaolin believe system.Authentic Wing Chun is none traditional Kung Fu, the real name of this system is "Weng Chun kuen" which is far more complex, than the commercialized versions, that most people are exposed to.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weng_chunCommercialized Wing Chun is a watered down version and of course pick it to pieces, as it is not as effective as the real thing any way. Alan Armstrong
Something about Wing Chun, is that the many different masters of it draw from Weng Chun Kuen.It is similar to putting a high performance engine in to a regular car body. This will have its advantages on the streets but on the race track, against other race cars, it will not win.Weng Chun Kuen is the high performance race car and Bruce Lee was a driver, mechanic and a supercar designer.Hope this is all making some sense to you now? Alan Armstrong
In Chi Sim Weng Chun, the foundations of the art were based upon Chan (Zen) teachings at the Shaolin Temple, handed down from Daaht Mo. The essence of Chan teaches its followers to trust in their own experience and the understanding of nature rather than doctrine or history.Any fighting system based on Chan must have three key components. It must be complete, taking all factors into account. For example, it must address all ranges of combat from kicking to striking, trapping, grappling, or employment of weapons. It must be based on reality rather than theory. It must be spontaneous, existing in the “here and now” rather than past or future. In Chan, there is no ego or body, no past or future. By focusing on the moment, not being distracted by thoughts or emotions outside the immediate task at hand, by being in the “here-and-now” practitioners are free to be aware of the total situation and react accordingly...Exsert from:http://www.wengchun.co.uk/history-of-shaolin-weng-chun-kung-fu/

Of course they are, but they're hardly a wing chun innovation. They've been around about as long as kicks have in the UFC. In fact, the more committment to the roundhouse, (or attempted roundhouse) the easier and stronger the superman punch.
