Alan Armstrong Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 The immortal words of Bruce Lee."There is no opponent"Perhaps this statement is difficult to comprehend or understand, but not forConor McGregor.Philosophy Bruce Lee & Coner McGregor; video reveals all!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJUI3AcsyYQLooks as if there is no link also (SO SORRY) then to watch Conor revel all, you will need to find it for yourself on YouTube: There is no opponent Philosophy Bruce Lee & Conor McGregor. Now with this in mind "There is no opponent" UFC2-CONOR McGREGOR VS BRUCE LEEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKTynayergEIs it true that there is no opponent and we are just fighting ourselves?
sensei8 Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Absolutely!! Not now, and not ever!!Let's read what was said when the Abbott asked..."Why is that? Bruce: Because the word ''l'' does not exist. A good fight should be like a small play...but played seriously. When the opponent expands, l contract. When he contracts, l expand. And when there is an opportunity... l do not hit...it hits all by itself. Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it."To me, the key is found in the above underlined words.Perception is reality to THAT person, and no one else, no matter what others might think and/or believe; it's not about the other person, in this case, the opponent. If I feel, and not think, then there is no opponent. "I" can't exist at all, and when "I" no longer exists, then through my own perception, neither does my opponent. As a Karateka, I truly believe and live, through the principle of Mizu No Kokoro and Tsuki No Kokoro!! My mind must be free of distractions of all types, otherwise, "I" does indeed exist. Btw, and of course, Conor McGregor, isn't the only MAist to ever utter and believe Bruce's well known statement. **Proof is on the floor!!!

bushido_man96 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Bruce was full of great thoughts and expressions, but I don't think he is always on target. I think that there is more like two opponents; the one you are facing, as well as yourself. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Alan Armstrong Posted June 23, 2017 Author Posted June 23, 2017 There is no opponent?"And why is that?"Because he ran away!"Where did he run to?"He ran as far as I can see"How far can you see?"I see no further than what is needed!"Where is the opponent now?"There is no opponent and never was, if everything is as it should be and nature takes its course to decide all outcomes."Then nature is your opponent?"Nature only decides how and when things die, we decide how to live and why!
