ramymensa
I must confess I'm 24 and never applied for a drivers licence. I like mountain bikes and I'm a bit scared of driving a car. That's because 3 years ago I was in a car that stopped in another I got a very nasty bruise on my left knee (the scar lasted for an year) and I broke the glass with my head. Neither of them resisted Anyway it wasn't very serious. Afterwards I got a strange feeling when it came to even try to drive a car. My new friend ("Mr. Perfect" ) insisted I learned to drive so I did some miles. I guess in the spring I'll try to get my licence. Now I'm not that affraid anymore. If anybody can do it, I surelly can World Shotokan Karate
Blade13
LOL! Such irony unknown. Gotta love it. Monkeygirl, dont sweat the driving. Its beyond easy! Well.. I didnt have to learn in snow though. That will be a challenge at first but you will be a better driver because of it. I got my real drivers license on Nov. 2 of this year. The only real trouble Ive had is that I dont have my car yet, lol. It was supposed to be a birthday present (Oct. 31 of this year) from my mom, but because we're remodeling our house, she couldnt buy it until we're through. *sigh* lol I hate having to borrow the car. I always feel guilty that Im leaving her w/o transportation. Even though we have an old izuzu amigo that she drives.. I still feel guilty. Yeah... I cant wait for my car. The work should be done in the next couple of days.. so WOO HOO. I already have a bunch of parts sitting in my room and my friend (computer genius) is designing my graphic. Driving with a parent is kindof a drag, but its worth it when you can drive on your own and not crash. Try to get a lot of practice though. If possible, take your actual driving test in a small town. The smaller the town, the shorter the lines, and the easier the test. I live in a small town and my driving test was literally 4 turns. We circled the block and they handed me a license. Good luck! But when you get ur actual license.. and a car eventually.. a whole new problem will arise... one that Im being faced with right now.. WHAT KEYCHAIN SHOULD I GET?! hahaha You wouldnt believe how much thought Im putting into that.
Kirves
Good luck! Yeah, if you live in an area where there's snow and ice in the winter, it is better to learn how to drive during this time so the effects of ice and snow won't come as a surprise when you meet them for the first time alone. monkeygirl
Well, I'm trying to get all the paperwork together right now. I have the doctor's slip and my birth certificate. But, sadly, the Social Security card is another issue. I haven't had to use the thing in years, and CAN NOT FIND IT!! It looks like I may actually have to send away for a new one. But it's a catch 22: to get a new SS Card, I have to send them my birth certificate and another form of ID. I have no other ID! That's half of why I need a driver's license!! So I can get an ID!!! I will persevere! I will find a way! 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.

SBN Doug
Well, since you're in "the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania", you might not have some of the problems I see everyday in this nutcase I call Connecticut. However, the best advise I can give is: Never take anything for granted! You come to a stop light, it turns green for you. Don't trust that the crossing traffic will stop. You're following behind a car on a clear day. Don't trust that he won't slam on his breaks. And most of all, don't trust that 2 tons of steel, surrounding airbags, and a Star Trek teleporter will be enough to protect you in any accident. About 10 years ago, I was proceeding through a light that had just turned green for me. I was in a Mazda MX6 and he was trying to beat the red at about 70 MPH in a full sized Branco. Next thing I knew, they were removing me from my red sardine can with the jaws of life. Always be aware of the other guy. Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing. Meiou Ikarino
I love driving Driving means I can go to the Dojang as many days a week as I want without having to beg the parental units to take me The single dumbest driving thing I've ever done was most likely hitting the concrete barriers surrounding the gas pump the first time I ever filled my tank. You don't need to be anywhere as near to that thing as it looks: The hose stretches. I was in a minor rear ending (my fault) because of rain, but no damage done.... I also ran out of gas in the middle of an intersection..... never trust the gas gauge! Just because it says you've got a quarter of a tank, doesn't mean it's right (in my car at least). BKJ1216
You should definatley apply, and pass. My sister didn't pass her test a few times, so she had to wait an extra six months when she turned 16. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
monkeygirl
How about a school ID for social security. That would be great...if I went to a normal public school. As it is, I'm basically homeschooled (I'm in a cyber charter school), so it is a public school, but we don't have photo IDs. Heh, maybe I could ask my school advisor to MAKE me a photo ID. But then I'd have to drive out to Pittsburgh where the physical school is We'll see. Mom's working on it, so who knows. 1st dan & Asst. Ziggy
Monkeygirl, can I just ask, what is a cyber charter school? Sounds interesting, I've never heard of that (maybe coz I live in England?). Also, driving is FANTASTIC, although in 4 years of having a license i've had one car stolen (ford fiesta) and another (ford escort) driven into, which wrote both cars off. I now have a crappy 1.2 corsa that does 0-60 in...well...if your lucky really!
