Kyle-san Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 He made the point that to be a complete martial artist you need a stand up style, locks and throws, ground fighting, an internal style and healing arts. I think he was right, though I have a long way to go to get there. His system was interesting to me because he combined external and internal principles effectively, which is where I would like to get to in my practice. But that takes a lot of time. Any way, good luck in your training. Well, thank you. I'm sorry if I came off a bit abrasive there but I had spent the first part of my day in a fairly bad mood. Anyway, that's an excellent idea of a complete martial artist and it's certainly one that I'm striving for at the moment. I think more than anything I'm just trying to soak up all the ideas that I can to find something that works for me.
choylefutsanda Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 most kung fu styles like choy le fut have complete fighting(stand up , throws, ground). I am not to sure about others but what really comes into play is the practice one puts into thier art and it is not the art that makes the person.
IAMA_chick Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 it definately depends on the person and how their school trains. so many different things matter that it is hard to compare unless you know two people from two schools and let them battle it out or something? just my thought.
