Here is a rare video of me and my teacher practice some light chi sao when I went to visit him. This videos is about 5 years ago. It was never ment to be release to the public but it's my way of sharing and connecting the art from student to teacher..

Indeed; thank you for sharing. Your Sifu would win a bet in a game of "Touch me if you can". And the thing I saw was his flow, and no matter what you did to reach him, you're attempts were thwarted, even if it was at the last second; in short, he was playing with you like a cat would play with a mouse....right before the cat eat the mouse.

:)

The Chi Sao in the video looked more like Yiquan, than Wing Chun; is this because Fut Sao Wing Chun is more concerned with the internal aspects or perhaps a White Crane connection?

The sticky hands in Wing Chun can cross but not in Yiquan as they consider this to be very dangerous.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yiquan[/quote

Fut Sao is a softer version then the Ip Man Chi Sao platform. I have studied both for a long time so mine is in between whereas my sifu is more Fut Sao..He crosses his hands a for a few reasons. One is to let you take advantage of that situation because its not about him beating you he wants to see you get better. The other reason has to do with structure reinforcement. When two hands touch that creates a stronger structure.

Thanks stonecrusher69.

What I understand, is that the Fut Sao is an earlier Wing Chun system, which is more softer and internal (pacifist based or Buddha influenced) than the rest that practice Chi Sao?

(As Sifu R. Williams has been highly criticized for his lack of sensitivity)

(As Ip Man, didn't give his students any control over the center line when doing Chi Sao)

This is now considered to not be used while practicing Chi Sao, as both practioners should benefit from this exercise, or the more experienced giving some slack for the inexperienced to build up their speed and sensitivity skills as needed.

I try to avoid saying this is older, more internal because it tends to get some people upset so I just leave it up to the reader to decide for them self.
