ineluki Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 When you're a Kyu grade i understand that there may be some petty squabbles of who stands where, often we just tell them to alternate if they can't sort it out.Don't bother, have them line up by size. It's a criterion everyone (even those who have no clue about martial arts) understands.
GojuRyu Bahrain Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I "line up" people in a circle for bowing in and bowing out. Random order, last one to arrive usually closer to the entrance...Other method for lining up people is by height. That way, pairs of similar height can be formed quicker. For formal occasions (big workshops and other dojos) i have mostly seen line up by (1.) belt and (2.) next by who is there (in the line) first. Quick and gives appropriate importance to rank = not a lot. ------------Goju Ryu (Yushinkan since 1989), Shotokan (JKA since 2005)
GojuRyu Bahrain Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I wouldn't know under which circumstances seniority at a finer level than dan/kyu level could be relevant. Knowledge.... Skill... not so sure ------------Goju Ryu (Yushinkan since 1989), Shotokan (JKA since 2005)
