I use my fore-arm or elbow to block chest strikes. My arm is to the side of the striking arm to redirect it to the side of me. You should try it. Oh, my elbow is pointed down when i do this and my palm is facing slightly toward me. I am using the blade of my forearm to strike the other arm away, while at the same time pivoting my hips so that I can blast back a good counter punch.

Yeah Ken, in a real fight I would simply have a guard and use reflexes with blocking, but these are the official blocks we must learn.

Thanks for answering the question guys, and ken for ya input

Correct Jack...

If you set your blocks improperly the technique is wrong. Upper/Middle Blocks are set with blocking hand coming from under other arm, and lower blocks are set with blocking arm coming from ontop of other arm. Both arms move simultaneously...execution of the block (forearm with palm facing you) and the non-block fist arrives in chamber at the same time for a nice quick SNAP!!!

I seriously did mean no question here is stupid!...
