bushido_man96
Our club trains against circular strikes, but I'm just wondering if perhaps a block or deflection isn't often similar against both straight or circular strike? The blocking and footwork won't be exactly the same. With straight punches especially, getting off line is going to be an important part of the defense. You have less room for error, in my opinion, than with a more circular strike. Footwork is still important for defending circular strikes, but with circular strikes, you have options like stepping inside the arc of the strike, or ducking the strike. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
gunner
I always thought it was easier to defend against a hook for the same reasons stated above. Also, a hook requires the opponent to be much closer because it has a shorter reach. If your opponent is that close, you should be backing out fast or going elbows and knees Muey Thai style. Sparring is honesty the rest is art."If you allow it, you'll have it."
