Spartacus Maximus Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 The meaning of "as a new person" is somewhat unclear, but a good first step would be to do some research to find what martial arts are taught nearby or within the distance a person is willing to travel for training
MAfreak Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 take trial sessions in clubs nearby and join the one you like most.

Alan Armstrong Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Welcome mominacrmc to KarateForum.comShould ask yourself, why the interested in martial arts? Or what has inspired you to want to learn martial arts. The style a martial artist choose is usually a cultural decision, Chinese choose Kung Fu and so on...Personally I would try out the nearest martial art club near my home, if it's not for me, then try the second club near my home and so on; till I'm happy with the martial art club.Good luck on your martial art quest!
LLLEARNER Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I agree with the above posts. Try each club a couple of times. Talk to the Instructors and students about what the like. See which group you mesh best with. Join whichever one fits your budget, schedule, personality, and style preferences. For me, I wanted something I could do with my daughter, and fit my evening work schedule and day school schedule. My Sensei also happens to be one of my supervisors at work, but he is amazing with kids and adults. He really has a heart to teach. The only thing lacking now is he needs his own space. "Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know." ~ Lao-tzu, Tao Te Ching"Walk a single path, becoming neither cocky with victory nor broken with defeat, without forgetting caution when all is quiet or becoming frightened when danger threatens." ~ Jigaro Kano
Davis Anthony Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Frankly speaking, there is nothing to prepare. But a little bit of research always helps. Also, the best thing to do is to talk to an instructor and they might recommend you what type of training to start with.
