bustr Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 http://kgnet.com/keichu/ Does anyone know this guy? This website says he created his system from scratch and that he never trained in karate. What was his background then? Boxing? Wrestling? Savate? I've heard good things about Marx from some tough full contact, old school fighters. I'm not questioning his integrity. Western arts interest me and I'm curious about the background that lead to the creation of what is considered a legitimate form of combat by reputable people in the Texas and Louisiana karate scenes. Thanks
Kensai Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 All I have to say about that is "hmmmm...." not sure about the sparkly red dress he is wearing, not partcularly traditional, nor American, yet he calms that it is an American system. For some reason he is tolding a CHINESE Taichi sword, yet he claims its Karate. If it was for Americans surely he would have them train in jeans and cow boy hats or something American atleast. I am sure he is a great fighter, but it smells of Mcdojo to me. Take Care.
Thai_Kick Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 (edited) "True Father of Amercan Karate" OK BUDDY! A 61 year old man, wearing a red dress has no right being on the front cover of a martial arts magazine. If you ever wonder why so many people make fun of martial arts, it's because of goofs like him. Edited November 9, 2002 by Thai_Kick Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
bustr Posted November 9, 2002 Author Posted November 9, 2002 Wait guys! Don't take this to McDojo. He's very legit. I was only curious if he had a background in Zipota, Combat LaRue or Savate. That's not the case though. He has a boxing background. HE apparently taught himself how to kick. I found some more material here. http://www.oakknolls.com/keichumain.htm
