I'm hoping to eventually get into kata competition.I think the best thing to do then is to dive right in, as soon as you feel comfortable enough knowing your kata, and get into competition. The first time is always an experience, because you take in so much in regards to how the tournaments are set up, how they run, and what you should do and are responsible for.
