tallgeese
Last week, we really focused using the mobility of various open guards to drive bottom offense. To do that, one must have options that legitimately threaten the top player. In our recap, we look at a variation of the butterfly sweep that isolates the top players hips and utilizes double under hooks to attack base. Check it out: What other variations do members here use? What trade offs are you willing to make between the stability of closed guard vs. the mobility of open guard? http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
bushido_man96
This was something different. We do work on an elevator sweep, but we don't utilize both legs like you did here. We usually teach it when we teach getting back to guard from top person in side control, or in working an elbow/knee escape. But, we don't train in a gi, either, so I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

One that only relies on a single hook and body weight to initiative motion. Very strong sweep. This week's version is designed for both hooks and really works out of an established open guard. This gets build a lot in no gi when the bottom person in half guard creates space and gets north. Both hooks come easily to this position at that point and it's one of my favorite escapes from bottom half guard. Gi or no gi matters very little in either. As always, grips on gis can can change the dynamics of the situation, but the hips and primary movers are the same. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
bushido_man96
Yes, a variation of that. We haven't drilled it from the more upright position you've shown here, but its the same sweep.I was rolling with a big guy the other day, and man, that was tough, keeping him in guard. I couldn't lock the guard, so had to basically just dig my heels into his back. And trying to elevator on him was not really working. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
