We condition. Primarily conditioning the bodies weapons with the use of post makiwara (three types) and Jari Bako.

However we also utilize ancient weight training methods similar to Goju Ryu practitioners. Chi Ishi, Ishi Sashi, Tetsu Geta, Nigiri Game and Makiage are used for this purpose. Although some are more modern versions due to the fact that some are hard to come by in quantities that would support a class of students.

I utilize conditioning in my teachings and strongly believe in conditioning if it is practiced and taught correctly. Practicing it incorrectly can leave the student with damage to the bodies weapons and have the opposite of the intended effect.

The person who succeeds is not the one who holds back, fearing failure, nor the one who never fails-but the one who moves on in spite of failure.
