sensei8
You make some valid points, that's for certain! I'm a firm believer that the MA is only as effective as the practitioner, and not as the style. Thank you, Luther unleashed, for sharing the video, as well as starting this thread. **Proof is on the floor!!!

Spartacus Maximus
Taking the risk of being a nit picker, but also for argument's sake everything is effective. It is a matter of purpose and choice but "effective for what purpose?" Once that first question is answered, the better question would be asking oneself if one is training effectively to reach the results expected instead of asking if the martial art itself is effective. All hammers are good for hammering nails, that is what they are made for. How well they work depend on the person holding the hammer.
Luther unleashed
Sure that was kind of what I was trying to get at in the video. It's all effective for something, good point. Hustle and hard work are a substitute for talent!
sensei8
The practitioner makes the techniques ineffective. The techniques within any given style are effective until the practitioner makes them not.Imho! **Proof is on the floor!!!
JR 137
The practitioner makes the techniques ineffective. Not effective at all unless you condition your hands and know where to strike and not strike with it.Or is it effective, but the practitioner makes it ineffective by not conditioning and striking wrong targets?Which came first, the chicken, or the egg? Kyonovice
Every martial art is (or has been) effective. Now surely it is down to the practitioner and how they interpret the art that makes it effective?
