MAfreak
just read the first topic. taekwondo mixes very well.there is no big difference in technique details but tweaking up the kicks like they do in tkd (spins, training methods etc.) helped me alot in my beginnings when i was still interested in kumite. Alan Armstrong
Had problems mixing my Karate with TKD. As any type of grabbing or takedowns are not allowed in TKD.Also the fast kicking in TKD is a bit tricky to avoid and retaliating with my fast punches wasn't much appreciated either.Learning safety rolls and stretching/kicking techniques have always been appreciated from learning TKD.The empty hand self-defense and knife defence techniques wasn't emphasized enough in the TKD class. gunner
I used to be a TKD student many years ago before it became so popular as a kicking sport. Traditional TKD uses a lot of kicks but also punches to the body and head. TKD is realted to Karate and many of the kicks are similar but modern SPORT TKD has ruined the style. It pains me to watch a TKD tournament any more. Sparring is honesty the rest is art."If you allow it, you'll have it."
