Sid Vicious Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 does anyone believe that theres such a thing as a "natural fighter"? this question has a little something to do with my next comment. first of all let me describe the situation: im 6'2" and weigh 145 lbs. (im a bean pole ) and i kickbox and just started shootfighting or vale tudo or whatever you wanna call it. i have kickboxed and beat someone who weighed 70 lbs. more than me. i have fought "no holds barred" and put two people on the ground at the same time. am i extremely lucky or do i just seem to know what im doing? i've noticed that most people have said that size doesn't matter in martial arts but i always thought it mattered in shootfighting and kickboxing.
Kyle-san Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 There's certainly such a thing as a natural fighter, some people have an extreme ammount of talent for martial arts/fighting. In your situation it could be either: a) You were lucky b) They weren't very good c) You knew what you were doing d) A combination of the above
hobbitbob Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 I ahev always felt that a "natural fighter" was someone with a good, competitive spirit. There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
ZeRo Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 yeah there is such a thing, they anoy the crap outa us people who have to train REALLY hard to get good!
Thai_Kick Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 To be a "Natural Fighter" is a gift or talent, kinda like drawing or painting, I'm sure everyone has that one guy at there club/dojo that can spar or fight as easly as you can breath. AlsoSIZE dose matter, because if it dosen't then why are their weight classes in Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA? Limits Are Not Accepted. They Are Elbowed, Kicked And Punched.
Jade_Lotus Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 The answer to your question is yes. But I don't know if I would say a "natural fighter". I think it is best to say that one can possess an innate fighting ablilty. Simply meaning that it is easier for the person to understand, comprehend and learn those things pertaining to fighting. One just doesn't magically become a good fighter without some kind of training and experience(i.e. getting into fights without formal training). Without proper training, or learning from experience, then one can never be a good fighter, he may possess a "natural" or "innate" ability, but you can't just magically be a good fighter without the above mentioned. Anyhow, that's just my take on it. Understand this, a man without honor, is not a man at all, but a coward in disquise.Animis Opibusque Parati
Kensai Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 A natural figter would for me be not just a good fighter, but a good person, this includes MODESTY Sid Vicious Just Joking Take Care.
BlueDragon1981 Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 There is such a thing as a natural fighter yes. Also there is such a thing as luck. Getting over confident can hurt you though. I have seen it before with people who have a natural ability to fight. I have also seen them not back down in cases where they should have. Of course you are talking about physical fighting. You can be a natural fighter on a mental level also, but that is a whole other subject. Good Luck and always remember there is always someone worse and there is always someone better.
Red J Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 IMO some people are "naturals". It means that they have a certain aptitude to do certain tasks well with little training. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
G95champ Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 Natural Fighters - I don't know. But you can't teach a person to be tuff. So if your tuff then thats bound to make you a better fighter.
