Titanium Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Looks nice, and all, but is what they're doing effective. Stick a Bo in the middle of all of that fancy smancy stuff, then the Nunchaku is void. Very true; I think its all for show. It's basically like Bruce Lee and the kicks he did in films; he said its for the camera, in a fight, a real fight, I would use hands not kick or shouting. Same applies to some weaponry too. “Spirit first, technique second.” – Gichin Funakoshi
Montana Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 It's not this one is it? Different video, but I think it's the same girl..or at least what I was referring to anyway.Look guys, I do appreciate her GYMNASTICS AND TWIRLING ABILITIES..I certainly can't move like that...but as a martial artist? Sorry, I don't buy it..and would never allow that sort of garbage in my dojo.I worked hard for many years to be able to do what I can do, and reach a certain level of expertise in my chosen art. I consider myself a martial artist, not a gymnast or baton twirler. My opinion of course.[/u] If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries.

Stick a Bo in the middle of all of that fancy smancy stuff, then the Nunchaku is void. I've had competitors at open (all style) tournaments come before me as a judge and do similar techniques with their nunchauku during a weapons form. I score them low and after the competition is over I will go up to them and explain why I scored them low. To prove my point about the ineffectiveness of their flashy twirling of the weapon...and it is a weapon...I have them do the twirling then I stick my hand out and let it hit my arm...it typically falls to the ground and leaves them looking rather embarassed that it didn't break my arm.Sorry, not even a bruiise.Good techniques gets good results..bad technique gets bad results..simple. Alan Armstrong Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Children and weaponry seems almost like a contradiction. As little Johnny is scolded by his mother for throwing shurikens at his baby sister. The parents of these weapon wielding children should have their opinions stated here.As I am sure that the parents are very proud of their ninja kid's martial art performances.
