SaiFightsMS Posted October 31, 2002 Author Posted October 31, 2002 I kind of like the idea of round house kick into an elbow strike.
G95champ Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Change the moves up and make a combo out of it. First do a round kick, Secondly use that to lead into a spinning thrust kick, and finish with a step behind side kick. Also the roundhose could be replaced with a cressant kick. You could throw the backhand first and then kick you hand like in Heian Godan or Bassai Dai. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
G95champ Posted October 31, 2002 Posted October 31, 2002 May I ask why you changing the kata up? Jittie is my personal favorite kata... LOL (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
SaiFightsMS Posted October 31, 2002 Author Posted October 31, 2002 Just being curious and playing with it. Sometimes playing around with a kata sheds new light on possible applications.
G95champ Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002 Yeah I know what you mean. I have saw Bassai done about a dozen differant ways and still called Bassai. I figured you were trying to make it more flashy for a event. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
SaiFightsMS Posted November 1, 2002 Author Posted November 1, 2002 I am no competitor. I just like to experiment with kata from time to time. I think the one I had the most fun with was when I did heian shodan with my bo.
G95champ Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Yeah we have done most of the Heian kata with the bo from time to time. We don't teach weapons but we do have a few laying arround. I am not expert with them but I find that I can apply the simple strikes to the Heian kata's and make a pretty good looking kata. I have also done this with a sword. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
